Princess
Wife of the sage Rishyashringa, whose sacrifice brought Dasharatha his sons. She was raised by Romapada, king of Anga.
Later tradition. Valmiki’s text is inconsistent: one passage says Dasharatha gave her to his friend Romapada to raise, another calls her Romapada’s own daughter. Valmiki does not name her mother; Kausalya comes from later retellings.
